The DC Self Defense Karate Association Family Turtles Program (ages 4-7 and parents) is a place where young children grow their self confidence and can come to learn martial arts in a safe, fun and comfortable environment designed just for them. At DC Self Defense Karate Association the focus is on valuable lessons such as confidence, self-control, courtesy, respect and self-discipline. Children develop these life skills to use outside of the class at home and in school. Teachers will see a difference! Social skills, communication, and awareness are all highly valued traits in society and are a large part of children’s martial arts programs. We focus on awareness and situational safety in our Kidpower classes as well.
From Respect to Self-Discipline DC Self Defense Karate Association brings the fundamental parts of the curriculum of any martial arts program to this program designed for younger children. Students training at our Washington, DC school are taught to respect one another as well as the teachers, parents, and instructors. We mentor our team of instructors and students, and truly believe in strengthening the mind and body as a part of karate for kids within the youth in our community.
Parents accompany their children in class in Family Turtles to help the kids gain a strong focus on concentration and awareness. Instructors team up with parents to help prepare these karate kids for their school years and beyond. Teachers and parents see it as necessary in the classroom at children’s schools, at home and in social settings. Consider memorization – DC Self Defense Karate Association classes teach students to memorize the form or technique and work hard on martial arts quality. This helps children learn the memorization skills and diligence necessary to master essential school academics, as well as preparing these karate kids to be well-rounded students from early on in their academic careers.
